St. Pascal's Social Justice & Caring Committee

Our parish community is deeply committed to living our Gospel call to hospitality, inclusivity, and justice through social action.

Activities focus on advocacy and charitable outreach. Presently, the parish advocates for fair and affordable housing, elimination of food insecurity, and racial justice within the community.

Examples of service projects include a monthly food distribution in partnership with Merrick Community Services; support for Fishes and Loaves food shelf at neighboring Progressive Baptist Church; a donation closet with resources and supplies contributed by parishioners for area programs such as Listening House and Brittany’s Place; and semi-annual visits by the Red Cross Bloodmobile. Catholic Charities’ Giving Tree and Prison Fellowship Angel Tree ministries are part of our annual Christmas traditions.

Our Social Justice & Caring Committee informs parishioners about pertinent social justice advocacy opportunities and activities throughout the community. Three times a year, the SJCC organizes the We Care Campaign to allow parishioners to learn more about and contribute to carefully selected charitable organizations.
