Announcement from Fr. Mike
As I announced in church this weekend I have been asked by Archbishop Hebda to move to another parish this summer. He first approached me about this during Holy Week, and it was completely unexpected. I told him that I would prefer not to make this move, as I am very happy at St. Pascal's and I think we are at a very delicate moment in our history in terms of governance and finance. But I also said that if it is better for the greater archdiocese for me to be elsewhere then I am willing to make a change. I believe he heard me in those concerns and is sending a very good pastor to us for the next part of the journey on the East Side. There are too many details of transition that have not yet been arranged, but for now I can tell you that I have been appointed as Pastor of Pax Christi Catholic Community in Eden Prairie as of July 1, and the next Pastor of St. Pascal's will be Fr. John Mitchell, who has been pastor of Immaculate Conception parish/school in Columbia Heights for the past six years. Fr. Mitchell and I have already been in conversation about how to make this a good transition, and we both want to see this be a blessing for St. Pascal's. There is sadness, of course, but also great gratitude and hope for what is yet to come.
